What can Vina’s Aid help with?

Housing
We can help pay rent for people who are faced with eviction notices and have a limited amount of time to act. Payments vary, but tenant status and payment history are investigated before any payments are approved. Payments vary from partial rent to full rent to deposits as well. Occasionally we are able to set up a payment plan with the landlord.

Prescriptions
Health care costs can be a large percentage of a household budget. In addition to prescriptions, our program has helped with eyeglass prescriptions and dentist visits.

Utilities
Our program helps prevent shut offs. We also work with households, their utility providers, and other agencies to keep utilities connected and/or get them reconnected if they have been shut off already.

Employment Readiness
Our program can pay for clothes, shoes, etc. required for a job, especially if we do not have those items in stock at the Center. (For example, scrubs often have to be a particular color we may or may not have.) Work licenses, permits and other certifications can also be eligible costs. We can also cover costs to complete a GED; fees for Oregon ID cards and drivers’ licenses may also be covered. Need a haircut? We may be able to help with that, too.

Keeping people housed

building certainty during uncertain times

Compared to this time in 2021, the amount of assistance we’ve provided to struggling households has increased by 77%. Typically, the households we help are supported by low-income earners. These households have been especially impacted by the rising cost of living. Community contributions to Vina’s Aid make it possible for families to feel more certain about a healthy and stable future.

Preventing homelessness is a vital function of Vina’s Aid. This program keeps people in their homes, keeps the lights on, and meets other urgent and emerging needs. Our work is part of a coordinated community effort to improve health outcomes for people experiencing poverty, homelessness, or who are at risk.

Requests are accepted by phone: 541-752-4688.

Our goal is to help families through an immediate crisis while making connections to support household financial sustainability.
